In 1888 the P-1887 Mk III was approved with an unfullered blade. For the Martini Henry breechloading rifle and will fit the Mk. I thru Mk. IV rifle. Bayonet measures 23-3/4" overall with correct unfullered blade. Stamped with "Wilkinson / Sword Company / London" under 3/93 date under "Crown/VR" on ricasso. Opposite stamped crisply "Broad Arrow / WD" and "Crown/ 35/ W". Same "Crown/35/W" struck on spine of blade. Blade measures 18-1/4". Never refinished or polished. Correct original leather grip scales held by rivets. Moderate wear to grips.
Correct leather and steel scabbard serial numbered on throat “9680 T”. Stitching remains unbroken. Leather shows moderate handling wear. Original staples holding throat and drag. Tear-shaped belt lug. Good, solid condition overall.
